Easter Assembly/All Age Talk.
Equipment needed : paper shredder; perhaps 'Wonderful Grace' ( see end ) or similar song and music.
Ask for volunteers.
Show them paper shredder. Ask them:
What is it for? To shred paper/credit cards so they cannot be pieced together and read.
Why do you need one? To safeguard information that could be valuable to a criminal.
How does it work? You turn it on and carefully feed in the piece of paper you want to shred, keeping your fingers out.
Show them how to make a funny hat with a fringe on it by shredding half of the page and reversing the process leaving it half shredded.
Thank volunteers.
Imagine everything that you have ever done wrong being put on paper. It would be embarrassing. Some people might needs lots of paper for all the wrong things they had done. I'm sure the teachers are thinking of some individuals right now as I say these words! Imagine taking the pieces of paper with your wrongdoings on them, and being able to shred them to pieces so no-one could know about them and they would be forgotten. That would be great/cool wouldn't it?
At Easter Christians remember that something like this has happened.
Jesus, who never did anything wrong, took the blame for all the wrongdoing that separates people from God. So, it is as if he has shredded up our wrongdoings so they can no longer be know or remembered.
To shred our piece of paper we needed to come to the shredder, and put it in. If we want to know the forgiveness of our sins we need to bring them to Jesus at the foot of the cross. Top say sorry to Jesus for everything we have ever done wrong. And ask that he will shred up these wrong things so we can be free to know, love and follow God for the rest of our days.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for dying on the cross and taking the punishment for my sins.
I am sorry that I have done many wrong things and turn away from them now.
Please forgive me and come into my life to cleanse me and to help me live for you.
Amen.

Wonderful grace that gives what I don't deserve
pays me what Christ has earned
then lets me go free.
Wonderful grace that gives me the time to change
washes away the stains that once covered me
And all that I have I lay at the feet
of the wonderful Saviour who loves me.
Wonderful grace that held in the face of death
breathed in its latest breath
forgiveness for me
Wonderful love whose power can break every chain
giving us life again setting us free
And all that I have I lay at the feet
of the wonderful Saviour who loves me.
