This was prompted by a "Hymn Committee" meeting when we lamented the lack of songs about our duty and joy of paying taxes to support those who govern. I decided to write this entitled "P.A.Y.E ( Romans 13 )"

For the uninitiated Gordon Brown is the British Chancellor who sets the Budget for the country, including taxes.

PAYE stands for Pay As You Earn, the method of deducting tax at source from our pay packets, before we can spend it.

In the countries, that are known as "the West"

We can give now, to those in distress

There's no need for them to suffer
